Fire Retardant Powder has a flame-retardant effect by releasing one-third (1/3) of its weight as water at an ambient temperature of approx. 200 °C and above.

1. this reaction is endothermic and cools down the source of the fire.

2. the water prevents the oxygen in the ambient air from reaching the flammable gases produced by the pyrolysis.

3. the Fire Retardant remains on the surface of the solid as an inert protective layer.

Fire Retardant Powder combines the highest whiteness with a very small particle size between 2 and 4 µm. Because of the precise top cut, this material is especially suitable as a flame retardant for plastics and rubber. Additionally, due to low particle size, these products are suitable for cable applications and fit into the polymer matrix of a jacket. No toxic or corrosive gases are generated in case of fire, which contributes to the ecological impact of this material.

Mix ratio can vary as high as 40 % but as the Fire Retardant is loaded into the resin structure, a resulting lowering of tensile strength occurs.
