Altex Yacht & Boat Paint Epoxy Barrier Undercoat is a high-performance, high-build epoxy coating that delivers excellent corrosion protection and water resistance. It is easily sandable and designed to create a smooth, sealed surface ready for finishing.

Recommended Uses

Epoxy Barrier Undercoat is suitable for a wide range of marine applications, including:

Final sealing of topsides and superstructures to create an optimal surface for finish coats
High-build surfacing to eliminate imperfections and prepare surfaces for Altex Polyurethane Undercoat or Altex Elite® Polyurethane finish coats
High-build barrier coating for below-waterline applications as part of an Altex antifouling system
Direct application to sanded GRP, epoxy-laminated wood, and epoxy-sealed timber
Application over epoxy-faired surfaces
Coating over Altex Epoxy Primer or Altex High Build Surfacer

Priming or undercoating aged polyurethanes, epoxies, fairing compounds, gelcoats, epoxy laminates, and fibreglass once surfaces are degreased and sanded

Epoxy Barrier Undercoat can be overcoated with acrylic or polyester urethane finishes and is specifically formulated as a sealer or undercoat for the Altex Elite® range of polyurethane finish coats. It may also be used as a high-build surfacer beneath Altex Polyurethane Undercoat and is suitable for immersion service when applied as part of an Altex Yacht & Boat recommended coating system.
