This lightweight 150 g/m2 E glass Chopped Strand Mat (CSM) is made from E-glass low-size chopped strands bound together with an emulsion binder (compatible with polyester, vinyl ester, and urethane-acrylate resins - It is not recommended for epoxy resins, use powder bond CSM for epoxy resin). The basic strand has a sizing system containing a silane coupling agent.

Recommended for the construction of composite parts and mainly used for the first layers of the laminate in direct contact with the gel coat. This fine CSM is used to avoid print-through on the gel coat surface. It is not recommended for epoxy resins.

It is mainly used in hand layup processes, although it can be also incorporated into the infusion range of materials.

Chopped strand fibreglass mat (CSM) - is the most extensively used reinforcement in the fibreglass industry. The advantages of CSM versus fabrics are their economic value, and how easily they conform to contours. They do not offer the strength characteristics of fabrics but are ideal for low-cost, rapid build-ups. CSM can be used alone or in conjunction with fibreglass fabrics, woven roving, or stitched fabrics in larger fabrications. CSM is commonly used for buildup use as in plywood decking and/or between layers of fabric when moulding.

Use only our polyester or vinyl ester resins with Emulsion-bound Chopped Strand Mat (CSM). When using epoxy resins, Powder-bound Chopped Strand Mat (CSM) must be used. Powder-bound CSM is available from us. Specify this in your purchase selection.

The product comes folded for lengths 1/2 m - 5 m, or rolled onto a roll (for a small additional fee if you prefer), and on a roll for 10 m, or 20 m lengths, then wrapped in plastic for shipping. If you require a specific length it can be rolled for you individually and collected from our factory at Hemmant.
